Do not forget him , Waheed is alive

23rd November is the death anniversary of legendary legend of Pakistani silver screen, Waheed Murad, who is still known and remembered for his unique style, charming personality and unforgettable performances, and who still lives in our hearts through his work.

I am just sharing a beautiful song "Tum wohi ho lo tumhen aj bata detey hain" from his movie "Devar Bhabhi".

  2. Many years ago, I watched this movie in Lahore cinema from the very start-- right to the end.
His films are the best for the society we live in. Waheed will live for ever.

  5. Excellent choice of song.

One thing which I realized about the song (written by Qateel Shifai) recently was that much of its imagery is common with how Iqbal described the role of evil poets in society (in Secrets of the Self): their kiss robs the rose of its color and fragrance, etc.

    And here it says:

  7. hmmm....
tum wahi ho, lo tumhen aj bta dete hain
tum wahi ho, lo tumhen aj bta dete hain
    tum wahi ho...

jis ko kalyon k kaleje pe teheltey huey dekha.

tum wahi ho, lo tumhen aj bta dete hain
    tum wahi ho...

tum wahi ho, lo tumhen aj bta dete hain
    tum wahi ho...

jis k galon ko muhabbat ke kanwal kehte rahey,

    tum wahi ho...

  15. I love this song.As a matter of fact Waheed's presence on screen seems to lighten up everything. He has a mesmerizing effect. No wonder it was said that his co-stars used to forget their lines when they faced him.
